Safetyman Eyewash and Deluge Shower Piping and Water Supply

Safetyman's shower and eye wash systems comply with Australian Standard AS4775 and American Standard ANSI Z358.1 2009

Eye wash and face Wash Fountains:

These should be connected to a potable water supply with piping no less than 20mm NB. The water inlet provided is 1/2" Male B.S.P. If water spillage, during the regular testing of the facility, is a problem, the basin waste should be connected to the drain. Presssure at the fountain, should be no less than 140kPa and no more than 600kPa. Water delivery to the face wash fountain should not be less than 20 l/min at 140kPa and, for an eye wash, not less than 15 l/min at 140kPa.

Deluge Showers:

Similarly, these should be connected to a reliable, potable supply, preferably with piping of 38mm NB. However, as a minimum, over short distances, 25mm or 32mm lines may be considered, providing water delivery of 150 l/min at 140kPa can be achieved. Pressure should be no less than 140kpa and no more than 600kPa.

So that maintenance work can be carried out on this safety equipment, thought should be given to the installation of a lockable valve upstream from the equipment. This valve should be padlocked in the open position so that unauthorized tampering can not occur. Also, line filters or strainers should be considered.
